Counselling

Counselling can support children and families to understand, manage and resolve emotional, behavioural and developmental issues. We are a professional centre at SETU Child Development Centre with the support of a safe, confidential and supportive environment. In addition, our well trained counsellors are able to guide children to share their ideas, feelings and worries confidently. Children learn to cope, to feel good about themselves and to relate to others in a healthy way.

All kids have feelings and life events in their own unique way. Hence, our counsellors’ approach to the counselling process is an individualized assessment of each child’s emotional, social and behavioural needs. We also develop individual counselling plans to suit the child’s age, developmental level and own aspirations. Furthermore, children are encouraged in our sessions to share their emotions, to regulate their stress levels, communicate better and to adopt healthy ways of problem solving in their daily lives.

Partnering with Parents.

At SETU Child Development Centre, we use evidence-based counselling strategies. Furthermore, we tailor every approach to each child’s strengths and individual needs. In addition, we create a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions. Therefore, our counsellors help children understand their emotions, develop healthy coping skills, make positive choices, and build strong relationships. Moreover, we monitor each child’s progress regularly and evaluate their development throughout the counselling process. As a result, we adjust counselling goals whenever needed to achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes.

Parents are an important factor in the emotional development of all children. We work with families from the beginning of the counselling process, giving them feedback regularly, suggestions for practice and ideas for working in the home. In addition, we ask parents to support positive communication, emotional regulation, and healthy coping with positive communication at home.

Our vision at SETU Child Development Centre is to “empower children to be emotionally competent. We support children to resolve difficulties, deepen relationships, enhance emotional health and reach their potential in a caring and supportive setting through personalized Counselling.
