Sensory Integration Therapy :

Physiotherapy

Sensory Integration Therapy is designed to assist children in integrating and responding to sensory information. Sensory Integration Therapy at SETU Child Development Centre is tailored to children who are faced with sensory processing problems. Additionally, our expert occupational therapists evaluate each child’s sensory needs prior to developing a therapy plan that is unique to the child. Children therefore develop their confidence and independence in responding to everyday sensory experiences.

Each child will interpret sensory information in their own unique way. So our therapists assess each child’s reactions to touch, movement, sight, smell, taste, sound and body awareness. We also assess and observe in detail sensory strengths and sensory challenges. Additionally, we create fun therapy activities in order to enhance sensory processing, attention, balance, coordination and motor planning. This is a planned process to increase children’s success in daily routine and learning.

A therapy approach based on evidence.

Our Sensory Integration Therapy services support children with a wide range of sensory and developmental challenges. These include Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), developmental delays, learning difficulties, motor coordination difficulties, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Furthermore, our multidisciplinary team works closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, special educators, and parents. In addition, we develop consistent therapy strategies for home, school, and clinical settings. As a result, we provide coordinated care that supports every child’s developmental goals. Therefore, children make meaningful progress, improve daily functioning, and participate more confidently in everyday activities.

At SETU Child Development Centre, we use evidence-based sensory integration techniques. Furthermore, we tailor every therapy program to each child’s individual needs and developmental goals. In addition, our therapists create engaging, play-based activities that encourage exploration, movement, and sensory regulation. Moreover, we help children improve body awareness, self-confidence, emotional regulation, attention, and postural control. As a result, children participate more confidently in classroom activities, social interactions, and everyday routines. Therefore, they develop greater independence and improve their overall quality of life.

The aim of SETU Child Development Centre is to increase the confidence of every child using individual Sensory Integration Therapy. Lastly, we continue to ensure that we deliver evidence-informed, compassionate care that will support children to engage fully at home, school and in the community.

Our Sensory Integration Therapy Services

Sensory integration (sometimes called “sensory processing” or SI) is a term that refers to the way the nervous system receives messages from the senses and turns them into appropriate motor and behavioral responses. Whether you are biting into a hamburger, riding a bicycle, or reading a book, your successful completion of the activity requires processing sensation or “sensory integration.”

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD, formerly known as “sensory integration dysfunction”) is a condition that exists when sensory signals don’t get organized into appropriate responses. Pioneering occupational therapist and neuroscientist A. Jean Ayres, PhD, likened SPD to a neurological “traffic jam” that prevents certain parts of the brain from receiving the information needed to interpret sensory information correctly. A person with SPD finds it difficult to process and act upon information received through the senses, which creates challenges in performing countless everyday tasks. Motor clumsiness, behavioral problems, anxiety, depression, school failure, and other impacts may result if the disorder is not treated effectively.

Symptoms of Sensory Processing Disorder, like those of most disorders, occur within a broad spectrum of severity. While most of us have occasional difficulties processing sensory information, for children and adults with SPD, these difficulties are chronic, and they disrupt everyday life.
